Brown Book of Weaving Drafts
Authors: Barbara Miller & Deb Schillo
This book is a collection of traditional eighteenth and nineteenth century weaving drafts with over 160 color photos to supplement the drafts. These drafts were gathered by Frances L Goodrich through her work with the Presbyterian Home Mission Board in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. Frances worked with the people who lived in the southern mountains of North Carolina and helped establish schools, a small hospital, and the Allanstead Cottage Industries. The weaving drafts came from the woman who wove for Allanstead Cottage Industries as a way to supplement their income. This book is a piece of history that you can use to recreate the fabrics of yesteryear.
