Harrisville Designs First Needlepoint Kit introduces children to the art of needlepoint with 3 beautiful projects. These 3 colorful needlepoint projects are easy and fun to make, and very satisfying to complete. The kit includes everything your child needs to a bookmark, 2 "mug rug" coasters, or 2 decorations to hang up. The First Needlepoint Kit comes complete with 2 square plastic canvases (4" x 4"), 1 rectangular plastic canvas (2" x 7"), 50" lengths of 100% pure wool yarn, 1 metal needle, and illustrated instructions for all 3 projects. Needlepoint is a beautiful art to teach your child or grandchild - in fact, this is one of Harrisville s "Grandma and Me Pass it On" kits. Winner of the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio s gold Seal Award. Suitable for children ages 8 and over. Harrisville Designs is located in the Monadnock Highlands of Southwestern New Hampshire. A family owned business, Harrisville Designs was established in 1971. Our goal is to preserve and share the textile heritage of our small New Hampshire village, by providing the highest quality materials for easy projects you and your children can make at home. Children feel proud when they create beautiful, practical items they can use at home or give as gifts. Hand weaving, knitting and felting are wonderful intergenerational activities your whole family can share. All Harrisville products are 100 per cent made in the USA.
These projects manageable size and simple designs make this the perfect needlepoint kit for beginners. Young textile artists can learn basic tent and overhand stitches to create a 2-by-7-inch bookmark and two 2-by-4-inch coasters or wall decorations. The kit includes three plastic needlepoint canvases and enough brightly colored wool yarn to complete all three projects. By following the clearly illustrated project charts enclosed in the kit, children will build their counting skills, concentration, and ability to follow instructions. Hand-eye coordination also grows with this activity. Because the kit includes a large blunt metal needle, it s not appropriate for children younger than age 6.
